1 A message came to the prophet Haggai from the Lord. Haggai gave it to Zerubbabel and Jeshua. It came on the first day of the sixth month of the second year that Darius was king of Persia. Zerubbabel was governor of Judah and the son of Shealtiel. Jeshua was high priest and the son of Jehozadak. Here is what Haggai said.

Darius (Dar-eye-us): he that informs himself
Haggai (Hag-eh-eye): feast; solemnity
Jeshua (Jesh-oo-a): same as Joshua
Judah (Joo-da): the praise of the Lord; confession
Zerubbabel (Zer-ubb-a-bell): a stranger at Babylon; dispersion of confusion
