¹ During the time that Ahaz son of Jothan, son of Uzziah, was king of Judah, King Rezin of Aram and King Pekah son of Remaliah of Israel attacked Jerusalem, but the attack sputtered out.

Aram (Ar-am): highness, magnificence, one that deceives; curse
Israel (Iz-rehl): who prevails with God
Israel (Is-ra-el): who prevails with God
Pekah (Pek-a): he that opens; that is at liberty
Remaliah (Re-ma-lie-ya): the exaltation of the Lord
Rezin (Rez-in): good-will; messenger
