Inspirational Power

Webster defines inspiration as: "To infuse feelings or convictions into others." There is no question that God's leaders must have the ability to motivate people to great spiritual service, sacrifice and commitment. The leaders incandescence sets those around him alight. Nehemiah was a man like this. When he arrived in Jerusalem the people were disheartened, discouraged and dispirited. In a few days he managed to put a dream in their hearts, a gleam in their eyes and a task in their hands. Throughout the period of building and the many obstacles they faced he kept them focused and faithful so they successfully completed their task.

An English soldier once said of Napoleon: "When he was on the battlefield it was like fighting against another fourty thousand men." Napoleon definitely possessed the ability to inspire others! In every realm the men who lead are the men who inspire. The man who surges with enthusiasm will ignite a fire in the hearts of others but the man with no passion will have no followers.

Typically, people are inspired by three things :

PREACHING :

• Mark 1:4-8 John's preaching was so INSPIRATIONAL and challenging that people flocked to him - even out in the desert !
• Mark 1:21-28 Jesus' speaking was radically different from that of the Teachers of the Law. He amazed the people! He spoke with AUTHORITY and conviction (Even demon possessed people suddenly woke up!)
• Acts 14:1 Paul and Barnabus spoke so EFFECTIVELY that a great number of people believed.

PERSONAL EXAMPLE :

• Mark 7:37 People were overwhelmed with AMAZEMENT at Jesus' lifestyle and his commitment to excellence.
• Acts 4:13 People were ASTONISHED at the Apostles' example of courage and conviction even though they were unschooled and ordinary men.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

• Mark 6:30 The apostles were accountable to Jesus for all they had DONE and
  TAUGHT.
• 2Cor 5:9-10 We will all appear before the judgment seat of Christ and be held
  ACCOUNTABLE for the things done in the body.

Practical Challenges:

• Repent of leading dull and boring meetings - Make them a happening.
• Prepare great lessons or bible-talks that are challenging and inspiring.
• Set a great example by living a life characterized by excellence.
• Never be lacking in zeal.
• Teach people to hold themselves accountable to the bible's standards.
